Peace Pledge Pilgrimage Event Opening Talk

February 22, 2019. Peace Pledge Pilgrimage Event Opening Talk at the Bahai Temple, New Delhi, India

Abstract

Definition of happiness varies from realm to realm, society to society, person to person, also from different stages of the person themselves.

For all the things that’s happening in the world, we cannot blame others because it’s all our doing. But who can fix it?

I like praying. I pray and someone comes to fix it. I believe in that ultimately. But I am one million percent sure that it will not happen in my life. For me to pray that this mic will disappear, it can. But I might have to pray 100 years for that to happen. I can just tell the person to move tit right away. I don’t have to pray a hundred years.

We can fix things. People say all the problems humanity is facing with our own home, food, earth, tree, oxygen, dessert, water, glacier, everything, it’s too late. I don’t agree. You are not dead until you are dead.

We can fix it. But there is a huge blockage – education.

There are three 8-year stages a child went through since they were born – brainwashing stage(0-8yr), repeating stage(8-16yr) and experimenting stage(16-24yr). If the first two 8-year stages went well, the 3rd one they will be experimenting on the right direction.  These days the caring about the environmennt and importance of many things, which might not be necessary 500 years ago, are not put in the child’s education. Education is very important for our next generation.

Peace is of course very important. Pray for peace, be peaceful is wonderful but it doesn’t work. Individual level it’s very good. I am peaceful and happy in my retreat room but outside so many terrible things are happening. Active peace by definition means, education system, economy system, energy system, energy sources, political system, etc everythingn has to be up-to-date. For example, the mentality to carry weapon like 200,300 years ago is no longer relevant today but when we hang on to the old mentality, tragedies like those suicide bombers happened. It shouldn’t be today’s reality but it becomes today’s reality because we don’t bring in active peace. We do nothing or next to nothing to truly make it work.  Don’t see anything; don’t listen anything; don’t say anything is wonderful. We can cover our eyes, mouth, ears but everything else might still be happening around us. Peace is good but it’s not good enough. We have to do things in a way so no evil exist that people have to close their eyes to.
